Are there any special plumbing or electrical requirements?
The units are designed as a replacement for a conventional tank water heater or as a pre-heating booster to an existing tank system. Any plumber can install the tankless wherever the existing conventional tank is located. The unit is designed to use the same 208 - 240 volt current that your conventional electric tank water heater uses. Complete Installation Instructions and a User Guide are included with each unit. The installation is a relatively simple procedure. Is is very important that you review the electrical requirements for your desired model before purchasing.

Will one unit be sufficient for my house or condominium?
Yes, unless you have a large house in which several people typically use hot water at the same time, a properly sized unit will provide your entire home with an endless supply of hot water. Normally, we find that people are not concerned with multiple users of hot water at the same time, because water pressure issues already prohibit that type of usage. Most people are concerned with the "one shower after another" situation. Knock yourself out. You will never run out of hot water again.

What's unique about the Stiebel Eltron product line?
I'm glad you asked. The Stiebel Eltron product line will reduce your hot water heating costs by up to 50%, while providing an endless supply of hot water. Unlike your existing tank-type hot water heater, the materials used in its construction resist corrosion so you won't experience water leaks from ruptured tanks that can ruin carpets, baseboards, drywall, etc. You reclaim the space once occupied by your outdated conventional tank-type hot water heater, because the Stiebel Eltron unit mounts on the wall. The Stiebel Eltron is equipped with unique flow sensor and sophisticated microprocessor. By sensing the rate of water flow passing through the unit, the flow sensor sends signals to the microprocessor on an ongoing basis to that it can regulare the power to the heating modules to maintain the precise temperature selected by the user on the convenient digital display. If you must keep your existing tank system for your home or business, but want to eliminate the problem of hot water depletion or extended waiting for hot water, a Stiebel Eltron tankless water heater configured as a booster system will solve your problems. We guarantee it.

Why is the Stiebel Eltron Electronic Tankless Water Heater so economical?
A conventional tank-type water heater must keep 40-60 gallons of water heated to between 120°-160° F. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Now compare that to how many minutes a day you actually turn on a hot water tap, shower, clothes- or dishwasher, etc. The Stiebel Eltron Tankless Water Heater only consumes electricity when you use hot water.

How does the Stiebel Eltron Electric Tankless Water Heater prevent scalding injuries?
Scalding occurs when water that is kept at a temperature of between 125°-160° F. in a conventional tank-type water heater is allowed to flow from a faucet or shower without being mixed with cold water. When an adult encounters water that is too hot, they have the presence of mind and the ability to adjust the mixture and avoid scalding. When this happens to a child or infant, with or without intervention from an adult, the results can range from mild discomfort to third degree burns. The sophisticated flow sensor in the Stiebel Eltron Electronic Tankless Water Heater controls the temperature of the water by sensing the flow of water through the pipes and adjusting the current to the heating elements accordingly. Whether one or two people are using hot water at the same time, the water is kept at the same temperature. You set the temperature once by adjusting a knob at the base of the unit. Hint: We recommend you set your unit at a temperature slightly higher than you'd like when the hot water valve is full on and the cold-water valve is full off. That way you won't waste energy by heating water and then mixing it with cold water in order to use it.

Will the Stiebel Eltron Electronic Tankless Water Heater work if I have a well and pump?
It sure will! The unit operates in a range between 5 - 150 psi and it is designed to fully regulate power to the heating elements as the flow rate from your pump changes (as the pressure in the expansion tank fluctuates). Most competitors' models lack this ability and are unabel to maintain a steady and consistent output temperature as a result.

How many units do I need for my house?
Unless you use an unusually high volume (at one time) of hot water, one unit will do fine as a tank. If your house was built with, or is being designed for two independent water heaters, then you would require two Tankless Water Heaters. Remember, Stiebel Eltron Tankless Water Heaters are designed to replace a conventional tank-type water heater.

What type of energy savings can I expect?
Because the Stiebel Eltron Tankless Water Heater eliminates the "stand-by" method of heating water and operates on an as-needed basis only, you will save money on your hot water heating costs, even if you replace a gas water heater. The typical savings are in the range of 20-30 % with replacement of a gas water heater and 30-50% with replacement of an electric water heater. Your exact level of savings will depend on the number of people in your household and your water usage patterns.
